The passage of time remains unchanged, which can be a comfort or a burden. In this case, however, it simply means that once again we have back-to-back birthday episodes! In an effort to bring the most Nic energy possible, we cover topics like figuring out who you are to someone years in the future, struggling with an authenticity of self, and considerations of free will and morality.

It's January, and you know what that means: it's time to begin this year's edition of birthday episodes! Our chosen format for this year has the birthday host picking all three fanworks, and Brenna kicked things off by remaining incredibly dedicated to her brand. Filled with hard-won reconciliations, embracing selfishness, and intense theories about milkshakes, this episode is sure to delight.

Minisode: 2021 Fic Retrospective

As another year comes to a close, your hosts take some time to reflect on what this past year looked like for us. Some hosts may have understood the assignment better than others in what "running a fanfiction podcast" entails, but hey we're all just out here doing our best. This minisode introduces a brand new awards show, shares our hopes and dreams for the future, and almost causes the hosts to dissolve their business relationship on air.

In a new annual tradition here at Fic Clique, we've once again done a rec exchange among hosts! We each were assigned a different host to pick a fic for, and we think we really crushed it this time around. Our fics were packed with undying devotion, a new take on a classic trope, and belief in redemption and one's better self.

PEW PEW PEW!!! We're bringing out our loudest hype horns because this is Fic Clique's second anniversary!! We decided to celebrate by letting you, the Ficlets, guide what fics we brought to this episode. You all really delivered, and we had a blast discussing how fanfiction can mirror literary genres, what makes up your authentic self, and how an AU can be so clearly reflective of an author's passions.

You know when we do themed episodes and try to have a cohesive throughline between our fics? This is perhaps the furthest away from that we've ever been. We still think we did a good job with the episode though as we dive into the ethics of therapy, puzzle through a mystery with our POV character, and expose one host's secret career.
