Dune June! Dune June! Dune June! We are very enthused to be bringing you the first of our 2022 monthly themed episodes. While we don't actually talk about Dune very much in this episode, we do get into fascinating parallels between different medias, gold-tinged nostalgia, and how friendship is just really good, actually.

For our slightly-belated Valentine's Day episode, we've returned to an old theme - gen fic! We're big enthusiasts of gen fic on the pod, and enjoyed having another episode dedicated to talking about just that. With romance out of the way we were able to cover hard-hitting issues like what people deserve, and the struggles of professional podcasting.

Gather round for a celebration of 50 (!!) episodes of the pod! Something we've discovered with this many episodes of podcasting is that we have a lot to say about fanfiction. Often we have more to say than can possibly fit into one episode, and so we decided to return to some favorite fics we've previously discussed. The topics are all brand new however, as we question what it means to have a happy ending, highlight how sci-fi is a reflection of humanity, and talk about monstrosity both explicit and implicit.

Our chosen format for this year has the birthday host picking all three fanworks, and Brenna kicked things off by remaining incredibly dedicated to her brand. Filled with hard-won reconciliations, embracing selfishness, and intense theories about milkshakes, this episode is sure to delight.

Minisode: 2021 Fic Retrospective

As another year comes to a close, your hosts take some time to reflect on what this past year looked like for us. Some hosts may have understood the assignment better than others in what "running a fanfiction podcast" entails, but hey we're all just out here doing our best. This minisode introduces a brand new awards show, shares our hopes and dreams for the future, and almost causes the hosts to dissolve their business relationship on air.

In a new annual tradition here at Fic Clique, we've once again done a rec exchange among hosts! We each were assigned a different host to pick a fic for, and we think we really crushed it this time around. Our fics were packed with undying devotion, a new take on a classic trope, and belief in redemption and one's better self.
